Due to the current exceptional situation worldwide the GUSEGG Summer School 2020 "Stability, Security, and Happiness: State – Society – Religion”, organised by the University of Graz, had to be postponed to next year.

The world health crisis caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the emergency measures in place in all of our countries mean that all of our Arqus universities have suspended in-class teaching activities and, in most cases, have temporarily ceased all other face-to-face activities, with our staff and students working and studying from home.

Arqus postpones its first Annual Conference due to the situation caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

With deep regret, the Arqus European University Alliance informs you that the University of Lyon together with the Arqus Steering Committee have had to postpone the Arqus Annual Conference 2020, due to be held from the 16th to the 18th of March in Lyon. This is in accordance with official recommendations from the French health authorities and the Erasmus+ National Agency regarding the situation caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The University of Graz offers a scholarship to Arqus students for the Graz International Summer School Seggau 2020


The University of Graz organises the Graz International Summer School Seggau 2020. Focusing on the emphasis areas of Southeastern Europe and North, Central and South America, the 15th edition of the summer school is titled Stability, Security, and Happiness: State – Society – Religion. The summer school will take place from July 5 to July 18, 2020 at Seggau Castle in Styria, Austria.


Arqus opens its first calls for Research Exchange Stays and Networking Site Visits

These programmes are addressed to PhD students, postgraduate students, early stage researchers, senior researchers and professors of the 7 universities that form the Alliance.

Among other activities, Arqus is meant to support research stays at one of the Arqus partner universities by funding travel expenses and providing opportunities for further intensified cooperation with the host university. It is also meant to support joint doctoral training within the group of partner universities by enabling site visits and joint activities.

The University of Graz offers a training workshop to help researchers with their application for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship

PostDocs or researchers without PhD with at least 4 years’ experience in research who want to pursue an academic career and wish to go abroad, will be invited by the University of Graz to participate in a two-day training workshop (May 18-19 at University of Graz) to successfully apply for a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie-Individual-Fellowship with the University of Graz as host institution. The University of Graz will cover the costs for these workshop and the travel costs of attendees up to 600 Euro.

The Rectors’ Council of the Arqus European University Alliance is formally established in Granada

Today, the Arqus governing body, which will be responsible for developing the general policies, medium and long-term strategies, and primary objectives of the Alliance, has been established at the Hospital Real (the seat of the Rectorate of the University of Granada), where the project has been also publicly presented.

Arqus is one of the 17 alliances that have been selected for funding by the European Commission in the pilot phase of this pioneering initiative within the Erasmus+ Programme.

The Arqus European University Alliance was formally established in Brussels on the 27th of November 2018, when the rectors and presidents of our member institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to strengthen the cooperative links that already existed between and among the 7 universities.

This project is one of the first 17 projects that will receive funding from the Erasmus+ programme, for a 3-year pilot under the European Universities Initiative.
