Arqus celebrates the LGBT Pride Day by temporarily changing its official logo.

On the occasion of the LGBT Pride Day that is celebrated on June 28, Arqus has temporarily modified its official logo on social networks to show the support of the Alliance to the LGBT community, supporting the defense of their rights and the demand for equality in all those countries in which this community is not yet respected and treated equally.

In addition, Arqus has proposed to the members of the Alliance to do the same, contributing our grain of sand to temporarily more colorful social networks that give visibility to the LGBT community and thus showing our support for their fundamental rights and freedom. Arqus participates in the 6th Day of Teaching and Learning organized by Leipzig University

The Day of Teaching and Learning takes place every year in Leipzig. It gives a great opportunity for students, lecturers and staff not only from Leipzig University but also from all higher education institutions in Leipzig to exchange about the issues in teaching and learning.

This year the event has become very international with the participation of international guests as well as due to its virtual format. Leipzig University holds an online workshop on teaching pronunciation in German as a foreign or second language.

Clear and correct pronunciation is crucial for successful communication. Since pronunciation problems can be persistent at all levels, pronunciation training should be included as a regular part of German as a foreign or second language instruction from the very beginning. Teachers need an extensive and varied inventory of methods in order to help learners achieve success.

Arqus holds its first Arqus Academic Debate with experts of its member universities

A new activity is about to start in the Arqus European University Alliance: the Arqus Academic Debates.

The Alliance counts with 7 multidisciplinary partners that provide an endless resource of knowledge and initiatives. With this new activity, we will bring together researchers and academics of diverse fields that will share with the public their approach to different topics from their expertise and research.

The first Arqus Academic Debate will be about Post-pandemic citizens, a very hot topic nowadays, and will take place on the 18th of June at 7 pm CEST on the Arqus YouTube Channel.

The University of Padua celebrates its first virtual International Staff Training Week

The University of Padua invites colleagues from all over the world to participate in the 1st virtual International Staff Training Week from the 15th to the 17th of June 2020.

This year’s Training Week is dedicated to virtual exchange for innovation in education and can be attended by administrative and academic staff members from Higher Education Institutions across the globe.

Opportunities and challenges related to virtual exchange will be discussed, expecting an active engagement of the participants through case study presentations, discussions, etc.

The University of Lyon opens two calls for professors and researchers for the development of innovative training programs and research collaborations within Arqus.

The University of Lyon is launching two calls for applications addressed to its professors and researchers in order to support activities in collaborative research and innovative joint programmes.

These calls belong to Action Line 6, Research Support and Early Stage Researcher Development, and Action Line 3, Student-centred Frameworks for Quality Learning.

Great success of the "Teaching in English" training courses organised by Graz

These training courses aims to support teachers in implementing English-language teaching.

The 26 participants of this edition followed the online training from their home offices in Graz, Bergen, Granada and Leipzig, representing four of the seven Arqus partner universities. "In the current situation, the Arqus European University Alliance remains committed to promoting a multicultural, multilingual and inclusive Europe which is open to the world. Therefore, we had opened this training to our Arqus partners as part of the Action Line 4 ‘Multilingual and Multicultural University’”, explained Daniela Unger-Ullmann, responsible for Action Line 4 at Graz University.

Arqus supports the University of Granada in preparing a dedicated universal version of the Gaudeamus Igitur as a symbol of resistance against the coronavirus

At the beginning of the confinement, the University of Granada “tele-gathered” 70 members of its Orchestra and Choir to record the Gaudeamus of Resistance with a verse dedicated to the current situation caused by COVID-19. Now it has been subtitled in 13 additional languages thanks to the support and solidarity of its international partners.

Graz and Padua will offer online workshops to help candidates to apply for an MSCA Individual Fellowship

Even in the current situation, the Arqus European University Alliance wants to continue to strengthen research cooperation and to offer joint postdoctoral initiatives as a basis for the promotion of Early Stage Researchers. Therefore, as part of the upcoming MSCA Individual Fellowships call, both the two-day proposal writing workshop planned in Graz as well as the MSCA Marathon organised by Padua will be held online.
