Leipzig University holds the 7th Day of Teaching and Learning, an online workshop named “Learning Worlds in Transition – Shaping Teaching and Learning Together” on 28th September from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (CEST).
Since one and a half years teachers and students have met each other mainly virtually, sitting in front of a screen. What effect does this situation have on learning and teaching? This and further questions will be discussed during the annual Day of Teaching and Learning at Leipzig University.

The English Sessions are the following ones:
- 11:15 - 12:45. Session 3: Transnational M.A. Programs and Arqus Café.
In this session the virtual Arqus Language Café will be presented, where students from all Arqus universities can consolidate their communication skills in numerous foreign languages in a relaxed atmosphere. Under the guidance of specially trained tutors, communication options are created which have been missing since the beginning of the pandemic.
- 13:45 - 15:15. Session 6: Research based learning in a digital environment? Experiences at the Global and European Studies Institute (Leipzig University).
Building on the best practice examples of the Session 3, Dr. Steffi Marung, Director of the Global Studies Program at the Global and European Studies Institute at Leipzig University, introduces some of the teaching projects developed at the institute for the international MA programs Global Studies and European Studies and invites for an exchange of experiences and expertise, on how to foster the interconnection between research and teaching in international MA programs.

For this session we particularly invite lecturers and managers of international study programs and transnational cooperation in teaching and learning as well as specialists in didactics, to share their insights on challenges and solutions for research-based learning in international study programs, and discuss the specific challenges of these regarding (but not exclusively) three questions:
- Train the trainers: How to support and professionalize lecturers to develop and implement research-based learning projects in digital environments (also against the background of overlapping institutional contexts and limited resources)?
- Making projects sustainable: How to integrate innovative projects into study programs on a permanent basis and thus make them productive for curriculum development?
- Navigating transnational challenges: What are the obstacles for research-based teaching in international programs and how to cope with them?
